Introducing your New Favorite Band, Chinatown Slalom
Introducing, Chinatown Slalom, a Liverpool four-piece dishing out alternative/indie corkiness out their garage. They randomly showed up on my music radar when my Spotify playlists turned Spotify Radio today with the track "Where U At?"
The track was definitely my type of groove: A slowed down and screwed rendition with an old school funky bounce.
To my surprise, they recently showed off their versatility on their new 10-track album called Who Wants to be a Millionaire? released on June 21st under their record label September Recordings.
I quickly fell in love with the track "8:30" which reminded me a bit of Radiohead intoxicating dark electronic synths during their In Rainbows album run.
Chinatown keeps the momentum going on the next track showing off once again on "Dreams."
I like the way they play around with different sounds and instruments and don't take themselves too seriously. They just sound like they're free and are having fun out there (here is another comparison) ala The Beatles during their Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band.
Look at me comparing a band nobody has ever heard of to Radiohead and The Beatles in the same write-up. Check it out and let me know what you think.
